Experience
During my undergraduate studies, a focus in World Religions lead to a study abroad in Japan. While staying at a temple in Tokyo I was immersed in temple Buddhism and cultural studies - This was also my first experience of Shiatsu Bodywork and there a seed was planted for what would become my work in life.
I have been teaching Yoga for over a decade in the Lansing area. As a physical outlet and a doorway into meditation, a practice of breath-work, spacial awareness and alignment. Building strength with subtle, yin practices - my classes had become an amalgam of Therapist meets Teacher, perhaps finally creating a space for physical therapy on a broad scale, my original intentions as a budding 20 something year old college grad.
My physical training is in Neuro-muscular Therapy (NMT or deep trigger point work) and Myofascial Release (connective tissue remediation) through the Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy. I’ve continued my education studying The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy, a global collective of hands on practitioners that have trained along side Dr. Rosita Arvigo, These techniques are rooted in the traditional healing of the Maya culture, incorporating herbal healing along side structural pelvic and abdominal work, centering the digestive and reproductive organs for optimal function. I have also trained and worked as a doula along side birthing mothers.
